How do I clean my jewelry?
There are a few ways to keep your jewelry looking great for the life of the piece.
Hand-Crocheted Silver pieces should be kept in a plastic bag when not being worn. Over time, they may darken down slightly, giving them an antique look. Some customers like this change over time, but if you don’t, you can do the following:
Take 2 small bowls. Place one in the sink with fresh water running into it and a drop of dish liquid added. Fill the other bowl with a liquid silver cleaner, such as Tarnex, available at your grocery store. Dip the jewelry item quickly into the Tarnex, for no longer than a second or two. The piece should come clean right away. Rinse it thoroughly in the first bowl, the one in the sink with the water running. Dry with a soft cloth.
Note from the Artist: The Tarnex label will say not to dip items with pearls. I have dipped items with pearls for years, as described above, and never had any problems with damage to my pearls. The idea is to rinse the item long enough that you know the chemical is gone from the inside of the pearls, so no residue can affect them. If your pearls do lose some sheen, rub them with olive oil or a good natural body lotion to restore the shine.
18K gold items will not tarnish, and so can be cleaned in soapy water and dried with a soft cloth. Use an old toothbrush to get in between the wires if there is a buildup of dirt.
Oxidized Sterling and 18K Gold items are intentionally tarnished, and should never be dipped in jewelry cleaner. Instead, clean with soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.

My piece looks slightly different from the picture. Is this a flaw?
All pieces are created according to our patterns, which means their measurements will match from piece to piece. However, each piece is individually crocheted and hand-finished, and small differences are to be expected. Differences in areas such as stitch tension, or pearl surface are to be expected and are not considered flaws.
